By IWR 2017, we had set ourselves the ambitious goal of designing and building a hydrofoil pedal boat and making it fly with the muscle power of two pedal boat drivers. Long hydrofoils below the water surface are supposed to generate so much buoyancy that the hulls are pushed out of the water. This significantly reduces drag and accelerates the boat.
The boat was completed in time to participate in the IWR 2017 in Iława. Unfortunately, „Ikarus“ cannot yet take off in a stable manner, but even without foils we took 13th place overall (despite technical problems in the propeller hub).
